Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit & UK Asbestos Victims’ Support Groups: Supporting Documents for Branches

Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit & UK Asbestos Victims’ Support Groups: Supporting Documents for Branches

For the information and assistance of Branches and Representatives, please find attached two documents covering Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit and UK Asbestos Victims’ Support Groups.

The document covering Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) has been published to provide all Branches with details and an overview of the process for submitting an Industrial Injuries claim to the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) in England, Scotland and Wales or the Department for Communities in Northern Ireland.  The details set out in this document are based on current TUC and government information.

The further document covering Asbestos Victims’ Support Groups (AVSGs) – A CWU Branch Guide contains signposting AVSGs organisations endorsed by the TUC.  These AVSGs can offer direct advice and support to CWU members, not just on asbestos related illness but also other occupational illnesses too.

It is hoped that both these documents are of ongoing use to Branches in assisting members in these areas, noting that the details provided are correct at the point of circulation.

Any enquiries in relation to the content of this LTB should be addressed to the DGS(P) Department hford@cwu.org.

Yours sincerely,

Martin Walsh

Deputy General Secretary (Postal)
