Payroll Processing Monthly Paid Employees

Dear Colleagues,
Payroll Processing Monthly Paid Employees

Further to LTB 122/16 circulated on 26th February 2016, in which the Department advised Branches that the technical difficulties experienced by Royal Mail may also have had an affect on some monthly paid members’ pay, the business has now confirmed that this is the case.

In order to assist and update those members affected, Royal Mail has issued the attached Managers’ update and Q&A.

Branches are asked to ensure that this information is circulated to all local Representatives and Area Representatives so that they are fully informed on the situation and in a position to respond to any enquiries they may receive.

Any enquiries in relation to the content of this LTB should be addressed to the DGSP Department.
Yours sincerely,

Terry Pullinger

Deputy General Secretary (Postal)

Managers Update

Re-Issued Royal Mail & CWU National Joint Statement Doorstep Scanning of Products

Re-Issued Royal Mail & CWU National Joint Statement Doorstep Scanning of Products

Further to LTB 666/15 issued to Branches on 14th October 2015.

Branches and Representatives will recall that the department previously reported that the scanning of items with 2D barcodes would commence on Monday 19th October 2015 in the Cheshire and Merseyside Delivery Director Area and was then due to commence nationally from the 25th January 2016.

However, unbeknown to the CWU Outdoor Department the national roll out did not commence on the due date and we have now been informed today, over a month later that national rollout will now commence from the 4th April 2016.

A WTLL brief has been produced along with necessary communications to explain the change and these will be communicated from w/c 14th March 2016 and information on 2D Barcodes and Scanning will be displayed across all units.

It would be appreciated if Branches/CWU representatives could inform the department if the activities referred to above do not commence as scheduled this time around.

Any enquiries to Bob Gibson’s Office, quoting reference 530.

Yours sincerely

Bob Gibson

Weekly Payroll Processing 24 February 2016 with attachments

Weekly Payroll Processing 24 February 2016
You may well have received, or be aware of, a communication issued by Royal Mail management regarding technical problems they have experienced which could affect weekly paid employees, specifically in regard to overtime payments.
Although the business has indicated that this may cause problems with regards to delay in payment, they were hopeful that the situation would be resolved swiftly. We now understand that this problem has been rectified but the business is mindful that there may be some issues in relation to underpayments being experienced by members.
A Questions and Answers document (attached to this LTB) has been produced by Royal Mail for local managers, however, its content may also assist in answering any concerns our members may have in this regard.
It should be noted that we have raised the potential issue of our members incurring financial hardship as a consequence of this particular problem, and the advice we have been given is that anyone in that position should speak to the helpline/HR Services Advice Centre on 0345 60 60 603.
Early reports indicated that only weekly paid members would be affected, however, at the time of writing this LTB we have been made aware that some monthly paid members may also have been affected. The business has been informed of this and have confirmed that they are currently investigating the matter. In the event that this is proved to be correct, a further update will be issued to Branches via this department.
Branches are asked to ensure that this information is circulated to all local Representatives and Area Representatives so that they are in a position to respond to any enquiries they may receive.
Any enquiries in relation to the content of this LTB should be addressed to the DGSP Department.
Yours sincerely,

Update on CWU Website – (www.cwu.org)

Update on CWU Website – (www.cwu.org)
As you may be aware, the CWU website (CWU.org) undertook a migration to a new host late last year.
On the whole, this has been a success with increased speeds and a better layout for mobile users.
We are aware though of several issues and continue to work with our host to rectify these.
Branches and members can assist with this process by reporting failed links to us as you discover them (these pages will come up as errors when you try to open links).
In addition to this, we have received reports some colleagues are no longer receiving LTBs since the migration. Please urge members and officials to sign up again via the members section of the website. Anyone still experiencing problems with or after this should contact us immediately.
Finally, it is our intention to fully review the main website in the coming weeks and months. This will cover design, content and accessibility. We welcome comments from branches and members on this.
For any questions relating to this LTB please contact Marcia Murray at mmurray@cwu.org

Yours sincerely
