CWU National Briefing Conway Hall London 15thNovember 2018
This briefing was called to give Branches an update on Pensions and the progress that has been made under phase two of the Four Pillars Agreement.
Terry Pullinger DGS (P) opened the briefing by outlining the huge amount of work that has been carried out on achieving the CDC pension scheme and it was now under consultation in Government.
We then received a presentation about the new scheme which is due to be released to the pensions industry and the public on 21st November, so unfortunately it is under embargo.
National Officers Reports
Mark Baluch gave and update on Delivery, there will be aArea Delivery Reps briefing in January to outline how the ongoing Delivery Methods Trials were progressing.
Safe and Connected
We have access 30 million address daily this trial is being run in Liverpool North and Whitby, where 25 address in each place have been identified and the post person checks with the elderly resident twice a week asking 5 questions, each call is allocated 10 minutes per call.
Davie Robertson
Davie gave an update on Processing, he praised Reps for their hard work, it was good to hear the special praise for The Peterborough Processing for the recent re alignment of duties in Davie’s words “Peterborough have done phenomenal job up lifting 80 members hours from Part Time to Full Time well done”
Pipeline Review
Royal Mail have employed a team of consultants to look at the pipeline, we need to evolve to bring in new products with will in turn secure jobs and conditions.
Quadrant
We need to start using the canteen facilities in the workplace, the business is once again looking at cutting or closing them as they are not used enough, we all need to start using them or lose them.
