Post Office plan to move the Crown Office in Cowgate into WH Smiths

You may have seen in the local press that the Post Office plan to move the Crown Office in Cowgate into WH Smiths in Bridge Street, you may think what’s the problem with the move.
This move will take away control of the office from The Post Office and place it into the hands of WH Smiths, in other words Smiths have bought the franchise, at the moment there are 11 members of staff employed in the office, those who wish to will move with the work, but in future any new employee will be on WH Smith terms and conditions, which will be considerably worse that that of The Post Office.
With the francisation of the office there will be a reduction in services that are offered to the public, and less counters.
The Post Office have set up a drop in forum next Wednesday between 1530 and 1930 at the museum for the public to have their say on the move, The CWU are totally against the franchisation of the Crown Office and are planning to leaflet out side the office at lunch time on Wednesday and outside the forum.
Could I please ask you to forward this and the leaflet attached to your contacts and ask them to attend the forum / help leaflet on the day or encourage them to write to their respective MP or the Minister at the Department of Business.
