CWU – Final General Election Campaigning ActivitiesNo: 301/17

Dear Colleague
The purpose of this LTB is to outline our final activities as the General Election Campaign reaches its conclusion.

· Friday 2nd June – the Voice will begin to land. Please ensure the widest debate and support for its articles, messages and content.
· From Friday 2nd June we are expecting some opportunities for GS media interviews. These will be advised accordingly.
· On Tuesday 6th June the GS and SDGS will hold an open Q&A Facebook session at 5 p.m. Details of this will follow from Chris Webb.
· As part of the campaign Tuesday the 6th June is designated ‘Trade Union Tuesday’, trade unions will be engaged in a large number of events and initiatives across the country. It is crucial that as many of our reps as possible get involved on the day. Please contact your Regional Secretary for details of what’s happening in your area.
· Throughout the remaining days of the campaign, we will continue to drive support on social media.
· Membership Engagement Activity – from Monday 5th June, we will be taking forward a unique membership engagement activity and our representatives will be asked to actively promote a letter to members and to seek their active support. This activity is also designed to raise the profile of the union and assist in any subsequent media interventions in the remaining days of the campaign. Further information on this will be sent out separately.

Throughout the campaign, the CWU has been very active and we now call upon all Branches, Reps and members to join us in fighting for a Labour Government. As part of this we urge supporters, if you have not already done so, to contact your local constituency and get out on the ground in the remaining days of the campaign.

The union has secured very important Manifesto commitments that are definitely in the interests of our members’ jobs, our industries and the vast majority of people in the UK.

The UK needs a different value set. Only Labour will deliver this.
